Browned Butter Sage Garlic Mashed Potatoes

So, it is no secret that I am a lover of garlic and potatoes, so these Browned Butter Sage Garlic Mashed Potatoes shouldn't come to a surprise to you.  I have been seeing all these recipes for browned butter sage sauces and wanting to try one, and when I saw it in combination with mashed potatoes, I was sold.  Of course I had to add garlic to my mashed potatoes because frankly, are there really any other kind? But I think the addition of the browned butter sage was quite delicious.  It gave them that little "fancy" vibe which is always appreciated.

[What you need]

8-10 large red potatoes
1 bulb garlic (use less unless you are addicted to garlic like me!)
8 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk (we use almond milk)
8 large leaves fresh sage, finely chopped
olive oil
salt and pepper to taste

[What to do]

Wash your potatoes, leaving the skins on.  Cut into pieces about 1"x1" and add to a large pot.   Cover with water and boil over high heat until tender when poked with a fork.

In the mean time, peal your garlic and finely chop.  In a small pot, add the garlic and just enough olive oil to coat so that you can saute it until tender about 3 minutes.  When the potatoes are done, strain out the water and return to the pot.  Add your sauted garlic and milk to the strained potatoes and mash until well combined, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Melt your butter over medium-high heat until it starts to brown.  It will get all sorts of bubbly and frothy, thats normal!  Just when it starts to brown, add your chopped sage and let it continue to cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.  Pour the browned butter and sage combination over the potatoes and serve immediately.  Enjoy your garlicly delicious browned butter sage mashed potatoes!
